Learn More About GMOs!

Join GMO Free PA & Brad’s Raw Foods for a special Valentine’s Day Open House event on February 15th to learn about genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and the various impacts to our world, including your health, the environment and animals.

William Woys Weaver will speak on problems trying to raise GMO -Free heirlooms. Tara Cook-Littleman, Esp (leader of GMO-Free Ct) will speak on how they passed the bill in CT to signed law.

Not only will we provide you with the latest, most up to date information and news about GMOs but we will be joined by some special guest speakers who will share their years of experience, knowledge and expertise in their field with us. In addition we will arm you with the “know how” and tools to be an advocate for this cause and provide you with action steps to take in helping to create a transparent food system in the commonwealth of PA!

There will also be an opportunity to taste some delicious GMO free food from Cucina Verde as we demonstrate how to substitute your everyday pantry ingredients and cook safely with GMO free alternatives. Plus CSA and local businesses that operate a GMO free way of life will table their resources and provide plenty of additional information.EAt

Media Farmers Market Is Looking Forward to Its Fifth Season!

Media Farmers Is Back on Thursday, May 8!

Thanks to the Borough of Media and the Media Theater, Media Farmers Market will again be in the parking lot on the corner of State and Gayley streets every Thursday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., May through November. We encourage you to spread the word!

Volunteer Opportunities!
Media Farmers Market is busy setting up for our 2014 season. We’re lining up vendors, expanding our education program, and creating a series of events and programs to celebrate our fifth season! If you’re interested in being a part of the process, these are our specific needs:

Education Committee: The committee’s goal is to provide educational opportunities at the market for both children and adults. Topics could range from nutrition to food storage to food preparation. Tasks are varied, and you could commit as much, or as little, time as you prefer.

5th Anniversary Celebration Committee: This committee is overseeing special events, entertainment, and demos, including a special kick-off on the first day of the season. This involves weekly meetings (which will become less frequent as the events get underway), and then attending to the items generated from those meetings.

Treasurer: The Treasurer coordinates with our Market Manager. Tasks include attending monthly meetings, balancing bank statements, invoicing vendors, and developing the budget. Time involved is about four hours a month.

(Treasurer Position Filled…Thank You!)

Other: We welcome all volunteers!

If you’re interested, please contact Addie Ciannella by email or phone (acianc@verizon.net or 484.620.1218), or send us a message via our Facebook page! We look forward to hearing from you!

Thank you!
