Both books will be available at the Manager’s Table as of Opening Day: just $18 for Chef’s Table and $15 for Chickens. Two Vendors Looking for Part-time Help This Season!

Here’s Your Chance to Be Involved in Media Farmers Market…from the Vendors’ Side!

Returning vendors Mediterra and Vera Pasta are looking for part-time help this season….

Mediterra
A reliable, honest and mature individual is being sought to give out samples to customers and promote and sell Mediterra’s line of Tunisian olive oils, flavored oils, lime capers, roasted garlic and anchovies in olive oil at Media Farmers Market at State and Gayley streets in Media. The individual should be able to communicate the quality and taste of Mediterra  products, be knowledgeable about their ingredients and be persuasive in selling to customers.

The job will start in May and continue throughout the summer and fall every Thursday for 30 weeks until November 23, although there is flexibility with dates. The job would begin at 3 p.m. and end at 7 p.m. each Thursday. The job involves setting up a pop-up tent, tables and displays and accurate accounting skills in keeping track of sales. The individual must be able to lift 40 pounds. The individual must be a self-starter and self-motivated and enjoy meeting customers.

Vera Pasta
Chef Joe D’Andrea is looking for someone to work the Vera Pasta stand at Media Farmers Market from May through November. Vera Pasta specializes in homemade pastas and sauces, and has a weekly presence at the Market. Joe’s mission is to showcase the simple, true flavors of Italy with his pastas and sauces from his asparagus-and-fresh-ricotta ravioli and lemon penne to his fresh marinara sauce! For all the details, please contact Joe at JDandrea@verapasta.com. Cookbooks for Sale…and the Cookbook Author to Sign Them!

We’re excited to announce that award-winning writer and researcher April White will be at Media Farmers Market to sign cookbooks on August 21st! The former food editor for Philadelphia magazine, April is the author of Philadelphia Chef’s Table: Extraordinary Recipes from the City of Brotherly Love, which features recipes from over 50 Philadelphia dining establishments, as well as Chickens in Five Minutes a Day, a guide to raising chickens in your own backyard! By the way, she also authored Latin Evolution, the debut cookbook of Iron Chef (and Philadelphia restaurateur) Jose Garces.

April will be on hand to sign copies of Chef’s Table and Chickens in Five Minutes a Day on August 21. A huge community event and fundraiser for the library, the Spring Book Sale takes place at the Stone Cottage and Media Community Center, 4th and Jackson streets in Media, 10-5 each day. The Americana Roots Ramble Music Festival returns to Media on Saturday, April 12. April 13…Super Sunday in Media!
Spring Super Sunday in Media is set for 9 to 4 Sunday, April 13. Sponsored by Crozer Keystone Health System and coordinated by Town Talk Newspapers and the Delaware County News Network, the event will feature over 150 vendors, offering bargains on everything from antiques, appliances and books, to bric-a-brac, collectibles, attic treasures and handmade crafts. Many of Media’s stores and restaurants will be open for business, offering Super Sunday specials. (For safety reasons, according to borough ordinances, no pets, bikes or skateboards are allowed).

April 13…Philly Farm and Food Fest!
More than 100 local farmers, food artisans, farm-to-table chefs, and sustainable business owners will convene at the PA Convention Center Annex Sunday, April 13. This is the third year for this event, which is presented by Fair Food Philly and Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture (PASA). Tickets for the Fest are on sale now for this one-day-only marketplace. All proceeds benefit Fair Food and PASA’s work towards a sustainable food system.
