Seventh Season Planning Is Underway!
The Media Farmers Market Committee already has two meetings under its belt as we begin getting ready for our seventh season opening on Thursday, May 12! The 2016 season is starting to shape up as we connect with returning vendors and potential new vendors. We’ll be sending out monthly newsletters to keep you updated until May, at which time the newsletter will go out weekly to keep you in touch with the weekly markets. Be a Media Farmers Market Volunteer!
If you’d like more direct involvement with the Market, consider becoming a volunteer. Media Farmers Market is an all-volunteer organization and is always happy to have new members. Following are specific current opportunities.
Children’s Activities. Media Farmers Market is looking for someone to provide a series of children’s activities, once a month or so, over the course of the Market season, to take place at the Market Manager’s Table. Media Farmers Market currently hosts the weekly Produce Passport for children, and these activities would be in addition to that.
Fundraising Subcommittee. Media Farmers Market would like to create a subcommittee to focus on fundraising ideas for the Market, as the Market continues to grow and look forward to its next seven years!
Market Manager’s Table Volunteer. At every Thursday’s Market, volunteers work at the Market Manager’s Table in one-and-half- to two-hour shifts between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Volunteers answer shoppers’ questions, process credit cards and SNAP cards for Market tokens, and help kids with their Produce Passports.
Other. All are welcome, and no amount of time is too small to donate!
