Media Farmers Market plans first fundraiser
With the freshest vegetables, organic meats, and sustainably harvested fish on the menu, the Media Farmers Market will partner with Lotus, Farm to Table restaurant in Media for the market’s first fundraiser. It will be held Tues, Oct. 23 and begin at 7:00 PM. Lotus is at 112 W. State St. in the heart of Media.
The fundraiser will include a three-course dinner that will include a choice of different entrees – fish, beef, or vegetarian. Everyone will start with an appetizer and close the healthy and delicious meal with one of the restaurant’s freshly made desserts.
Lotus is a B.Y.O.B restaurant but on Oct. 25 the owners of Stargazers Winery, one of MFM’s vendors this year, will offer a free wine tasting to accompany each course. Stargazers is a sustainable winery that uses natural fertilizers and solar power to bring its grapes from vine to table.
The meal costs $50 and with the funds raised, the market committee plans to ensure the market’s sustainability and to begin accepting food stamps at the market manager’s table as soon as possible. “This will allow us to serve every member of the Media community and surrounding areas,” says Addie Ciannella, MFM committee member.
