Plastic Free July at the Market: Reduce and Reuse!
“Plastic Free July” is almost over. If you’re trying to reduce your plastic consumption, the Market has several options for you. Robin Hill Organics has adorable wooden containers and uses paper bags for their smaller produce. Sharrah Orchards will take back your green produce baskets. And Shellbark Hollow will take back egg cartons to use around their farm.
Then, check out our Bag Swap! If you forgot your bag, or find yourself needing an extra one to carry home your Market haul, stop by the basket at the Manager’s Table and feel free to take a bag! Bring it back the next week, or feel free to keep it if you need it. We’re also taking donations of reusable bags to add to our Swap.
Kids’ Market Passport Program
Bring the kids to the Market and stop by the Manager’s Table so they can pick up their very own Produce Passport. Visit each week to see what the food of the week is. They can then draw it in their passport and earn a stamp. As they progress through the passport, they’ll earn small prizes as well as a grand prize once the passport is completed!
Deer Creek Malthouse from Glen Mills grows and malts the grains that many local breweries and distilleries use to make their microbrews and spirits. Deer Creek produces high quality, flavorful malt ingredients that are handcrafted using traditional floor germination techniques. This week at the Market, Deer Creek will have their own beers – only available at their farm stands – pancake mix using their malted ingredients, and spirits from Liberty Distilling that uses their grains.
Millions of Peaches
Peaches have arrived! Stop by Sharrah Orchards at the Front St. end of the Market for sweet, juicy peaches. They also have ice cold apple cider, other summer berries like blueberries and black raspberries, and of course, apples!
Register to Vote at the Market
Recently move? Change your name? Just turn 18? Make sure you are eligible to vote in the next election and stop by the Voter Registration Table at the Market this Sunday! This is a non-partisan, unaffiliated group of volunteers.
