To our amazing Media Farmers Market shoppers:
We hope you are staying safe and healthy during this uncertain time. All of us here at the Media Farmers Market care deeply about the health and safety of both our customers and producers, and we want to do our part to decrease the spread of COVID-19. While we are anxious to reopen the Market, we will adhere to the advice given to us by the Media Borough as well as Governor Wolf and will not reopen until it is safe to do so and have certain social distancing protocols in place. We recognize this not only impacts our customers, but it is also a potentially damaging time economically for our vendors. Unfortunately at this time, we are still unsure if we will hold our April 5th Market.
In the meantime, did you know that you can still reach your favorite vendors? Many of the vendors are now accepting orders online or by phone. They are offering options for safe and easy pickups and some are offering shipping options.
Below is a list of the Media Farmers Market producers. Please reach out to them to learn more about their ordering options. Also, this is the time for you to find any producer’s social media pages and follow them on your own. On Thursday March 12th, Governor Wolf sent the following message: “I strongly encourage the statewide suspension of large gatherings, events, conferences of 250 individuals or more and discourage people from traveling to recreational activities….And while people are free to travel, I ask that everyone refrain from non-essential travel. We all need to do our part to help stop the spread of the coronavirus. The time to do this is now. We cannot wait.”
On advice from Borough of Media staff, we are taking the Governor’s directions seriously and canceling the scheduled farmers market this Sunday, March 15.
Our market is always meant to be a place where the Media community can interact with each other and purchase nutritious, healthful foods from the region’s producers. But it is apparent that having a farmers market this weekend could be risky behavior for our community’s health. Stay tuned to our newsletter and social media outlets for any further updates.
